KPBS
KPBS is San Diego’s NPR and PBS station.
For over 60 years we have been right here in San Diego providing locally and nationally-produced news, entertainment, educational, and lifestyle programming for all ages on television, radio, and digital media, as well as events and resources that help San Diegans build a strong and vibrant community. KPBS provides stories that make us think, help us dream, and keep us connected.
News
With a team of more than 50 journalists, videographers, reporters, editors, and anchors, KPBS provides in-depth, trustworthy coverage on issues of high importance to San Diegans with local voices and perspective. Our live, nightly news program, Evening Edition, is broadcast on KPBS TV, YouTube and kpbs.org.
Podcasts
Locally, KPBS produces and presents 17 podcasts that offer unique insight and perspective from diverse voices in the arts, science, film, and more. Twelve podcasts are produced by KPBS, and another five come from local producers in collaboration with the station under the KPBS Explore project.
Explore Local Content Project
Every two years the KPBS Explore Local Content Project sends out a community-wide call for the next big content idea and will pledge seed funding to the most promising proposals. In the last 12 years we’ve collaborated with local producers to bring more than 40 programs in the form of podcasts, ongoing TV series, documentaries, and limited specials. The ‘Request for Ideas’ is open to anyone with an idea and the talent needed to create an audio or video content production for distribution across KPBS platforms. We are especially interested in ideas that showcase local arts and culture through performance, history, review, or critical study.
